| Abstract: | This paper explores the strategic role of libraries in fostering creativity and collaboration through the development of maker spaces and innovation hubs. As libraries transition-transformed from traditional repositories of knowledge to dynamic learning environments, the integration of hands-on, user-driven innovation spaces has become increasingly relevant. Drawing on conceptual frameworks from constructivist learning theory and the participatory library model, the paper examines how maker spaces and innovation hubs can reposition libraries as catalysts for community-based innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The rationale for this shift is rooted in the growing demand for 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, design thinking, and digital literacy. By providing access to tools such as 3D printers, coding platforms, and collaborative workspaces, libraries can democratize innovation and support both formal and informal learning across diverse user groups. This conceptual discourse identifies key benefits, implementation challenges, and global best practices, offering policy and strategic recommendations for sustainable integration. It argues that with appropriate support and planning, maker spaces and innovation hubs can transform libraries into vibrant centers for knowledge creation, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion. The paper concluded with actionable guidance for library administrators, policymakers, and educators seeking to reposition library services in an innovation-driven world. |
