Abstract: The study examines natural gas utilisation in Nigeria, challenges, efforts, and prospects. It showcases an empirical investigation on the potential of the Nigerian gas industry; past and ongoing gas utilisation efforts; factors influencing investment in the subsector; and the constraints odf gas development.constraints of gas development. It employed secondary data from thee Central Bak of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) from 1976 to 2015, while T Regression Models were estimated using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) technique. Based on the findings, it is recommended that an appropriate price structure be put in place to guarantee recovery of investment and a sound regulatory environment to ensure efficient utilisation practice.
