Abstract: A machine is a device that converts energy from one form to another, to make work easier. This usually involves overcoming a resistance force or load by applying another more convenient force. This chapter discusses the mechanical advantage, velocity ratio, efficiency of a machine, work done against friction, pulley systems, steering mechanism as a machine.
