Assessment of Logistics Infrastructure at the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) Camps in North Central Nigeria

Abstract

The present study examines the type and condition of logistics infrastructure in place at the IDP camps in the rural and urban areas in North Central Nigeria. The study utilises descriptive research design to describe the features of the respondents. The study utilise purposive sampling techniques to pick the state in the north central Nigeria which have about 71 IDPs camp. Taro Yemane formula was used to determine 397 questionnaires which was distributed to the IDPs at the IDP camp using random sampling techniques. The study uses frequency, percentages, and mean index score to analyse the data collected from the field survey. While the study hypothesis was analysed using Chi-square analysis. The study results show that Shelter facilities, Food and material warehouse, Water and sanitary facilities, Health clinics and Transportation facilities and Distribution equipment are amor the available logistics infrastructure. In addition to the study finding reveals that the over condition of the available logistics infrastructure across the IDPs camps are in po condition. The study concluded that there is a significant deviation between the observed a expected frequencies, indicating that the type and condition of logistics infrastructure place at the IDP camps in the rural and urban areas in North Central Nigeria are independent.
