Abstract: A S u g a r c a n e juice extractor having 3340.95-4635.3kg per d a y cane crushing c a p a c i t y w a s designed and f a b r i c a t e d as one of the equipment of the indigenous sugar processing p l a n t recently developed in Nigeria hy the N a t i o n a l Cereals Research Institute, Badeggi. The e q u i p m e n t is made up of the j u i c e extractor units, cane inlet a n d baggasse discharge chutes, juice collector, power transmission unit, covers a n d frame. The machine was f a b r i c a t e d with about 95% local materials in the Agricultural Engineering w o r k s h o p of the Institute. Test results of the machine using sugarcane varieties BD 95-030, BD 96-009 and local c h e w i n g cane indicates juice extraction efficiency of 72.53-83.9%. It was also found suitable for extracting juice from varying cane sizes and simple to operate and m a i n t a i n .
