Authors: Adebayo, Tayo Moses; Oni, Babatope Gabriel; Ojekunle, Joel Ademola; Okeleke, Uka John; Ohida, Muhammed Etudaiye
Abstract: The performance of Nigeria in global competitiveness ranking shows that it faces
logistical challenges in trade. Consequently, the purpose of this paper was to analyze Nigerian
seaports' logistics efficiency in relation to trade strategy for global competitiveness. The paper
assessed Nigeria's global trade competitiveness by analyzing the processing of various seaport
clearance sub-systems, including Form M, Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR),
Assessment of Duty (AD), Payment of Duty (PD), Examination (E), Custom Release (CR),
and Delivery (D).The paper used a questionnaire survey to gather data on 23 Nigerian
manufacturing
firms listed on the NSE between 2010 and 2019 that regularly import cargo via
Lagos seaports. Regression analysis conducted with SPSS showed that the cost of seaport
clearance, which measured Nigeria’s global trade competitiveness has a high positive
association (r=0.575) with the Form M number of agencies involved having a statistically
significant influence (p=0.042)among other variables. It appears that the average cost of
seaport clearance increases by N 119,878 for each extra Form M agency involved. The results
above make it abundantly evident that Nigeria's competitiveness in global trade is impacted by
seaport logistics, particularly with regard to the clearing system. Therefore, one way to increase
Nigeria's competitiveness is through effective seaport logistics. Effective seaport logistics can
lower trade costs, making Nigerian goods competitive on the global market and vice versa.

Abstract: Abstract
The performance of employees in deposit money banks which is essential for facilitating
sustainable optimal organizational productivity, largely depends on the quality of leadership to
facilitate motivation, innovation, and adaptability in a highly competitive financial
environment. This study investigates the effect of three strands of leadership styles, namely
transactional, transformational and strategic leadership styles on employee performance of
deposit money banks in Minna Metropolis. A structured questionnaire was administered to 208
frontline workers (teller attendants and marketers) of twenty-five branches of deposit money
banks in Minna Metropolis. Multiple regression was used to analyze the data using STATA
software. The findings revealed that transactional leadership style, transformational leadership
as well as strategic leadership style all had a positive and significant effect on employees’
performance of deposit money banks in Minna Metropolis. The study therefore concludes that
all the three leadership styles play a critical role in shaping employees’ performance and
aligning leadership approach with the dynamics of these leadership dimensions can go a long
way in yielding optimal performance outcomes. Accordingly, it is recommended that bank
managers should integrate a blend of the various leadership styles for sustainable performance
by leveraging on the strengths of motivation and discipline from transactional leadership style,
inspiration and innovation from transformational leadership, and foresight and adaptability
from strategic leadership style.

Authors: Dauda, Abdulwaheed; Ibrahim, Fatima Maaji; Umar, Hadiza; Atoyebi, Kabirat Mayowa; Adamu, Fridausi
Abstract: Abstract
This study investigated how the dimensions of social innovation—co-creation, social need
orientation, novelty, capacity building, and systemic change—shape gender inclusion among
retail trading enterprises in Lagos. Grounded in Institutional Theory, the research employed
a cross-sectional design involving 430 traders selected through a multi-stage sampling
process. Data were obtained via structured questionnaires validated by experts and internal
consistency value of (Cronbach’s α ≥ 0.70) confirmed reliability assessments. The data was
analyzed using multiple regression at the 0.05 significance level. The results revealed that
co-creation (β = 0.27, p < 0.001), capacity building (β = 0.22, p = 0.001), and systemic
change (β = 0.19, p = 0.004) significantly influence gender inclusion, while novelty and
social need orientation do not. These findings indicated that meaningful inclusion is driven
more by participatory governance, skills enhancement and institutional transformation than
by symbolic interventions or isolated innovations. The study concluded that empowering
women in Lagos’s retail trade demands institutional re-engineering rather than superficial
initiatives and therefore recommends deliberate policy actions to embed women within
governance frameworks, expand capacity-building programs and consolidate systemic
reforms.

Title: Adoption of Social Media Technology and Impact on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Competitive Advantage in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja
Authors: Zhiri, David Danjuma; Tanimu, Musa Shehu; Musa, Oziohu Fatima; Kolo, Ruth Fatima
Abstract: Many businesses are adopting social media networks to woo potential customers. Social media
networks have been reported to help SMEs compete favourably between themselves, and in many
instances compete with larger businesses. Notwithstanding its popularity, there is still very
limited information on the impact of social media adoption on SMEs competitive advantage
especially in developing countries where SMEs are predominantly in the informal sector. Thus,
this study examines Social Media Adoption and its Impact on SMEs Competitive advantage in
the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria. The study adopts a survey research design.
The population comprises of 2,825 owner manager SMEs in FCT Abuja. A sample of 338 is
drawn using Krejcie and Morgan table. Primary data are collected through the use of
questionnaires. However, 326 questionnaires are retrieved from the respondents. Regression
analysis is used to analyze the data with the aid of SPSS Version 20. The study reveals that two
independent variables (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) had a positive significant
impact on SMEs competitive advantage in Abuja. It therefore, recommends that there is need for
advocacy by the government agencies in charge of SME activities to enlighten SMEs on the
importance of social media adoption to their businesses. It equally recommends for the training
SMEs on the usage of the various social media platforms and how they can leverage on them to
gain competitive advantage.
