Abstract: This study investigated the management and use of legal deposit materials on users support services in State branches of National Library of Nigeria in North-central. Three research questions guided the study in line with the research objectives. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The study population comprised two hundred and fifty-two (252) respondents, one hundred and six (106) staff of legal deposit department and 146 users across the eight State branches in North-central Nigeria. The study adopted complete enumeration or census method due to the small number of the population. Structured questionnaire and checklist were the instruments used for data collection. Data were analysed using frequency counts, percentage, mean and standard deviation using weighted mean score for taking decision. Findings revealed that users support services provided include: reference and information assistance; document delivery; training and orientation; access to electronic databases; and guidance on research methods, branches employed structured methods for organising, cataloguing, preserving, and providing access to these resources with variation in the effectiveness of these practices across branches and the level of use of legal deposit materials was high. Based on the findings, the study concluded that National Library of Nigeria branches in North-central possessed the requisite user support mechanisms for maximising their impact in addressing management inefficiencies, promoting resource utilisation, and mitigating operational constraints. The study recommended that adequate fund budgetary allocation, regular training, ICT infrastructure and information literacy programmes should be provided in National Library of Nigeria branches in North-central.

Abstract: The paper explore issues surrounding filmy and Information Science Education and Training with service to Fifth Industrial Revolution. The specific objectives of this paper is to identify the role of fifth industrial Revolution in LIS Education; the need for librarians to be equipped with relevant skills to provide efficient services as well as the importance of emerging technologies in promoting LIS education and training, the challenges involved as well as conclusion and recommendations. The Fifth Industrial (5IR) is characterised by technological advancement and societal transformation which will have positive impact on education and training for library and information science and therefore expect librarians to develop new skills to enable them adapt to new technologies to offer efficient information services to learner/students. The methodology adopted in this paper is the analytical review research type which harvest literatures relevant to LIS education and training particularly in the 5IR. There is the need for collaboration between librarians and machines, digital literacy, continuous learning/professional development and adoptability, critical thinking, problem-solving and emotional intelligence. The fifth industrial revolution has reshape LIS education for smatter future. The fifth industrial revolution bring about the integration of advance technologies and human-centric-value so as to revolutionize and personalized learning experience, immersive learning with augmented reality and virtual reality as well as enhanced collaboration and global connectivity. The fifth industrial revolution technologies can make LIS education more accessible to disadvantaged learners and develop future skills; encourage lifelong learning. The challenges to the SIR in terms of LIS education and training and include: data privacy digital inclusion, resource allocation, sustainability technological and funding issues particularly in the developing countries. The paper concludes by assessing the role of 5IR in reshaping education in general LIS education and training in particular. The recommendations centered on the need for collaboration among libraries, library schools as well as information and communication technology to address the above-enumerated challenges.

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now being applied with evidence in almost all aspects of disciplines, in the institutions of learning, health care services, the innovation in economic development as well as in the University library for efficiency/accurateness and effectiveness. This study focused on the application and use of artificial intelligence (AI) for effective library services delivery in University libraries in Nigeria. It was centered on how, and which areas in the University library that artificial intelligence (AI) is applied. It was found that artificial intelligence have different component such as the expert system, pattern recognition, natural language processing, as we robotics, and these different components of Al can be applied in Nigeria Academic libraries. Example, they could be applied in the area of acquisition of library materials, cataloguing, classification, indexing etc. Literature surveyed equally revealed that there are many is an exam of artificial intelligence such as robotics, expert system, natural language and so on with advantages that could revolutionize service delivery in University libraries, Nigerian University libraries could use artificial intelligence in its operations conveniently. There are also challenges that pose some barriers which should be looked into in order to ensure that Artificial Intelligence efficiency, effectiveness and quality University library service delivery is achieve

Abstract: This study investigate the Perceived influence of library environment, information resource availability and utilization on academic activities of teachers in Unity Colleges in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. The research assessed the impact of library environment, information resource availability and use on academic activities of teachers in Unity Colleges, FCT Abuja. Four (4) null hypotheses were formulated and tested at the 0.05 significance level. The study employed descriptive survey design with population of 4,233 teachers across the six Unity Colleges in FCT Abuja. A sample of 351 teachers were adopted using proportionate stratified sampling technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaire, validated by lecturers in the department of Library and Information Science, Federal University of Technology Minna, and the reliability coefficient of the instrument was established with the overall Cronbach’s alpha of 0.97. Inferential statistics, including regression analysis and composite regression were used to test the four null hypotheses and analyze the data. The results of the hypotheses tested revealed significant and positive influence among library environment, information resource availability and use on academic activities of teachers in Unity colleges in FCT, Abuja. The combined influence of library environment and information resource utilization significantly enhance the academic activities of teachers.
