Authors: SILAS, SAMUEL
Abstract: This research work was carried out using survey design to collect data from sampled students. A total of 312 students were selected at random from the senior secondary schools (SS 1 – SS 3) to answer the questionnaire which the researcher used as the research instrument. Three (3) research questions and two (2) research hypothesis were stated and tested at 0.05 level of significance respectively. Hypothesis 1; states that there is no significance difference on the empirical evidence to prove that class size makes a difference in student academic performance as the p-value of 0.79 was above the significant value of 0.05, hence the null hypothesis was accepted. Hypothesis 2; states there is no significant difference on the general perception of mathematics students in senior secondary school regarding class size as the p-value (0.704) was above the significant value of 0.05, hence the null hypothesis was accepted. The result from this study have shown. The result from this study have shown that a small class size enhances efficient and effective learning thus increases cognitive achievement. The researcher recommend that state and local government educational planners should supervise the admission offered to student and the recruitment of teachers bearing in mind the expected teachers-learner ratio and the eventual learning outcome.</summary>

Abstract: This study investigated the students Perception on the causes and effects of mathematics anxiety in senior secondary schools in Bosso Local Government Area, Niger State. This study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the student’s perception on the causes and effects of mathematics anxiety in senior secondary schools and to determine the causes and effects of mathematics anxiety among students based on Gender in senior secondary schools. The study employed the survey research design. A five point Likert scale structured questionnaires was applied in order to collect data from the sample of three hundred and seventy-five (375) out of the total population of fifteen thousand, six hundred and thirty four (15,634). The research questions were answered using a descriptive statistics while the hypothesis was tested using the Chi-square correlation statistical tool at 5% level of significance. The study findings revealed that society, school, teacher and even the students as factors that causes mathematics anxiety to senior secondary school students as perceived by both the teachers and the students. The p-value of the correlation between the male perception and the female perception was found to be .089. Based on the findings of the study; the researcher recommended that counseling units should be provided in secondary schools to redirect students’ mindset about mathematics; to letting them know the importance and usefulness of mathematics in their everyday activity.</summary>

Authors: TOYE, Olaitan Peter
Abstract: This study examined Students Perception on Internet Services as Alternative for Teaching and Learning of Mathematics in Federal University of Technology Minna Niger State and the target population was Mathematics student from the department of science education, this study has three objectives as perception of students on the use of internet services as alternative source of teaching and learning mathematics, two research questions were raised in line with the objectives to guides the study. The population of the study was 612 students and one hundred and fifty (150) well-structured questionnaire was distributed. The research developed a self- designed four Likert scale structured questionnaire, titled “perceptions of students’ on the use of internet services as alternative source of teaching and learning mathematics” which was validated by expert in science education department and industrial and technology education department. The study adopted a survey design. Data obtained from the respondents was analyzed using mean and standard deviation analysis method. However, finding of this research reveal that students have positive mindset toward mathematics. The aim of the study is to examine student perception on the usage of educational resource alternative strategy toward effective teaching and learning of mathematics. Based on the finding the following recommendations were made: The study established that there is lack of IT expert; hence, it is necessary for the school to employment people who are well experienced and have better IT knowledge by doing this it will help to fast track and aid smooth use of internet in teaching and learning of mathematics. Federal Government should also provide necessary learning aids that suitable for study such as learning equipment.</summary>

Authors: NNEJI, Gladys Chinyere
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between class size and mathematics achievements in SSCE in Bosso LGA, Niger state. The research adopted a correlational research design. The total population was sixteen senior secondary schools in Bosso LGA and the whole sixteen schools were sampled as sample size. A checked list was used as instrument of data collection and was validated by the supervisor and some other expert from the department. The research was guided by two research questions and a null hypothesis. The research questions were answered using a multiple bar-chart and the research hypothesis was tested using PPMC. The researcher discovered that as the number of class size increases the achievement of the students’ decreases and as the class size decrease the achievement increases. The researcher recommended that the government should allocate more budgets to building of more classrooms in Niger State.</summary>
